The 164th Post

It was on November 3, 2008 that I had the privilege to put up the very first post on this board, when I launched the Council’s “website” for what was then Crestwood Public School. Since then, I always took it to heart to only put up posts that were approved either by one of the Council Chairs or the Principal, but now again I will just do what I did the first time, and skip those “rules”.  At the time, just after graduation, as one of the  proud parents of a child from the first cohort of KKSA that  took all the benefits of the three year long  program, I  want to say goodbye and wish the best to all the students who just graduated, the students who will follow for years to come, and to their parents and guardians. As an active member for three years of the Parent Council, I hope many of you will consider to get involved in the Council’s work in the various ways that are offered. Even your emails you send to the Chairs of the Council can make a huge difference, as do your replies to the various surveys. Visible volunteers or silent contributors, storefront helpers or silent advocates did and will matter to the Council, in order to fulfill its obligation to represent all parents.  The Council is an advisory body that works under the leadership of the Council Chairs governed by  “rules” of the TDSB and the Education Ministry, but work on your behalf, if you let us know what you think, so go ahead show up to Council meetings, send an email, fill out those surveys, and make sure your voice is heard in the school, the TDSB, and in the Ministry.

Finally I would like to thank our Principal, Teachers, Custodians, Lunch Ladies, Office Manager and  parent volunteers on behalf of all the Grade 8 parents and guardians, for all the work  that helped to shape our children and KKSA.

Signing off with the “last song” from the graduating Grade 8s…   Eva B.
